Do you allow urgent or same day appointments?
If there is an available appointment, we would be more than happy to schedule a visit on the same day. If not, we can sometimes arrange for an after hours appointment at an additional cost or make a recommendation for a local hospital that can make sure your pet is cared for right away.
What is the process for having my pet spayed or neutered?
Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately six months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine if they are healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. A pre-anesthetic blood screen is recommended prior to undergoing anesthesia and surgery. Your pet will be closely monitored (blood pressure, EKG, temperature, respiratory rate) during and after anesthesia. Dr. Rachel Kleiner can perform these procedures at a local animal hospital.
Do house calls cost more than going to the vet's office?
In addition to the usual veterinary fees, there is a house call fee which is $60. If multiple pets in your home are seen during the same visit, there will still only be one house call fee. In addition to travel, the doctor often spends significantly more time with you and your pet during a house call visit as compared to the 15-20 minute appointment time alloted at most hospitals. The other prices (for exam, testing, and treatments) are comparable to fees at your local hospital.
